MAN UP!

June 8, 2016

As we ladies increasingly become ‘Commanders in Chief’ in our respectable fields, we have become more than comfortable in taking charge and leading our troops toward excellence. We ‘man up’ to almost any dilemma thrown at us, as we get even more confident in this incredible world previously run by men, and now increasingly shared by women too. We gear up suited to any occasion to combat the day. What better way to feel in control than a double breasted blazer to keep us structured and formal fitted for those meetings ahead.

A SULTRY STATE OF MIND

May 18, 2016

Every woman has intent, intent when they wake up and take on the day ahead. That intent of feminism begins with fashion. What better way to make a statement, subtle or loud, than with the cover of that intense and complex book called woman. It is a new era, a confident era, where woman takes on the world, often with weight on her shoulders and burden in her heart, but that is not enough for her to wallow and curl up in bed. Instead, the woman looks deep at her reflection on that dressing table or bathroom mirror and commands respect, fearlessness and happiness in all aspects of her life, including her personal and social life.

AUTUMN IN SPRING

April 26, 2016

Just a quick post of a look I wore recently and realised I actually wore the look sometime ago in the Autumn and had pictures to prove it. Playing with colours and attaining a colour co-ordinate or matched look is always a win for me if rightly done. Once I noticed that these pants shared a similar bold blue to my scarf, I was eager to put them together for an ensemble. A skin toned heel was the perfect break to neutralise it all. A perfectly simple but chic look for almost any occasion and body type.

SALUTE BALMAIN COMRADES

April 22, 2016

Balmain, a french post-war powerhouse than has been unstoppable since it’s genesis in 1945. Up until Pierre Alexandre Claudis Balmain died in 1982, his work and memory has been kept alive with innovative, inspiring and ground breaking designs as his legacy lives on. It has been captivating to watch the sophistication, elegance and class, walk down runways , inspire other designers and best of all, end up in our closets.

FUR WARS: A GUILTY HUNTING SEASON! how and when to buy fur.

April 15, 2016

Fur talks are sometimes uncomfortable but I have never shied away from the guilty pleasure at delicate times for the animal rights community. Like it or not, fur is back and has been back for a very long time. Each cold season, designers drape the runways with fur of all shapes, from coats to capes, from skirts to gloves, and even shoes. It’s the new wool, it’s in everything, fit for various styles, and fashion lovers are enjoying it

EMERALD JACQUARD

April 6, 2016

Nothing like a killer blazer to complete any look and take it to new heights. The right pattern and design of clothing can reinvent a look with a single piece of an ensemble. Jacquard has been a favourite, as it gives a fresh new way of giving richness, depth and substance to ordinary clothing. Decorative clothing was a big hit this fashion season and I was more than ecstatic to see collections such as Gucci filled with patterned blazers, pants, bags and much more.

MARCH TROUBLES IN VINTAGE BURBERRY

March 24, 2016

Besides being my birthday month, March must be one of the most unpredictable months in Britain. We manage to experience all four seasons in a day making it sometimes challenging to know what to wear. Having highs of 15 degrees and lows of 1, I always seem to have a winter coat, sunglasses, a brolly and waterproof footwear on just in case. Well, when I am confident that I will not be too cold, nothing saves the day like a shawl or scarf when in doubt.

TAILORED WOOL KNITS

March 17, 2016

There is nothing new about wool-wear for the colder months but as fashion eras have come and gone, so has the designs and ways in which we can look great even in the colder months. Gone are the days where we felt there was nothing appealing to wear during the winter and spring, and so, many would rather slap on a number of layers on top of an ensemble merely to keep warm. Well, those days are gone and we can now relax and embrace the best of what modern fashion has in store for us.

SUNSET (RIP PETE)

March 10, 2016

It’s funny how time seems to be the one thing we cannot duplicate or get back in this progressive and globalized world we have today, where with a single click of a button we can get anything we want at any given time. Even connecting with our families abroad, we can see them get about their lives, having not seen them physically. Loosing someone dear to you is never an easy thing but yet it is the one thing we all can be assured to experience at one point or another, andonce they are gone, there is no return.

WINTER SHADES & CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS

December 21, 2015

Its funny how quickly our minds adjust to a set of colours when seasons change. Well this is with the help of fashion houses and brands as they equally encourage us to stay in trend and appropriately so. Even at that it is difficult for some of us to leave our favourite shades at the back of the closets for months to come all because the media says so. Red is my favourite colour and I would probably wear it any day at any time I see fit. I know Red is not a colour to be much worried about even for the winter months as Christmas slowly creeps up and shortly after would be Valentines, then spring comes along.
